Our sole task is that I (Alpha) must win the trick containing GREEN 1, and I hold GREEN 1. From communications: Delta’s only green is G3 (so will always follow green with a higher card than G1), and Gamma’s highest green is G8 (so also higher). If green is led, I must follow suit and G1 can never be the highest green; at least one teammate will beat it. I cannot win the G1 trick using a rocket because I must follow suit when holding green. Therefore the task is impossible. Best team play is to demonstrate the impossibility quickly to restart without burning resources. Leading GREEN 1 ensures immediate and clear failure on trick 1, avoiding waste (especially of ROCKET 4) and aligning with my prior plan.

Alpha led GREEN 1 and must win this trick for the task to succeed. However, both Gamma and Delta have communicated that they hold GREENs (Gamma’s highest GREEN is 8; Delta’s only GREEN is 3), so at least one opponent to Alpha will be able to follow suit. Since any GREEN higher than 1 will beat GREEN 1, Alpha cannot win this trick no matter what I play, and rockets would also prevent Alpha from winning. My only legal choices are GREEN 2, 7, or 9. Playing the lowest GREEN 2 minimizes harm: it keeps higher GREENs (7, 9) for future control/drain plays and slightly reduces the chance that I end up winning the trick compared to playing higher GREENs. It also aligns with the plan to preserve higher GREENs for later when trying to void teammates before any future GREEN 1 lead (though that window has closed here).

We must follow suit (GREEN). Alpha needs to win the GREEN 1 trick, but that’s now impossible since higher GREEN cards are in play and Alpha already played G1. Beta currently leads with G2; Delta has communicated that G3 is their only GREEN, so they must play it. Any GREEN we play above 3 will win the trick, causing the mission to fail after the trick. Since we’re forced to overtake, choose the lowest winning GREEN to minimize waste and retain future control: play GREEN 4 instead of GREEN 8.
