Our only team task is for Beta to win the trick containing GREEN 9, and we currently hold GREEN 9. The cleanest path is to create that trick now and let Beta take it. If I lead GREEN 9, Beta acts immediately after me and can play a ROCKET to win the trick, satisfying the task. Gamma and Delta can both likely follow GREEN (Gamma’s highest GREEN is 5, Delta showed GREEN 4), so neither can beat a 9 in-suit. If Beta does not rocket, I would win with GREEN 9 and the mission would fail, but alternative leads are worse: - Leading BLUE 7 almost certainly wins (it’s the last BLUE), keeping me on lead and eventually forcing me to lead GREEN 9 later with even less control. - Leading ROCKET 3 either forces out higher rockets and still won’t include GREEN 9, leaving the task unresolved with only two tricks left. Therefore, leading GREEN 9 maximizes the chance Beta can immediately secure the task by rocketing over it.

Alpha led GREEN 9 and Beta already followed with GREEN 8. For the task, Beta must win the trick containing GREEN 9, which is now impossible: Beta has already played and cannot win this trick; any rocket by us or Delta would also fail the task since the winner wouldn’t be Beta. Therefore, the best we can do is avoid rockets and shed the lowest GREEN to conserve a slightly higher GREEN for any residual control in the last two tricks. Playing GREEN 3 is safest and cannot affect the outcome (Alpha still wins with GREEN 9).
